Cell phones and tablets are changing the way people perform every days tasks. This change applies to land surveyors and GIS professionals as well. Mobile devices provide an excellent platform for mapping and other spatial data tasks. In this talk Landon will discuss the use of the open source Open Data Toolkit for GIS data collection on mobile devices. This toolkit provides an affordable and easily implemented way to design forms for data collection on a tablet or cell phone. It includes the ability to collected limited spatial data. As part of the talk Landon will explain how he is using Open Data Kit on some of his own GIS and mapping projects.
